60 years of contribution to education and research
The MSc in “Electronics and Telecommunications (Radioelectrology)” began as a one-year organized study program in 1965. It is worth noting that at that time, no other Faculty at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki offered postgraduate programs.
In 1970, the curicculum changed to a two-year program, and in 1993, based on a new reform, it was divided into the fields of Telecommunications and Electronics.
Since the 2026-2027 academic year, it has been operating under a new name and a new reformed curriculum designed based on current and future market conditions.
The Master’s Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications (Radioelectrology), together with the corresponding Postgraduate Programme of the University of Athens, are the only recognized by the Ministry of Digital Governance and are considered a prerequisite for obtaining a license to practice as a Radio-Electronics Engineer A.
During the 60 years of operation of the Postgraduate Program in Electronic Physics (Radioelectrology), more than 900 Radioelectronics Engineers have graduated and filled positions in telecommunications and electronics companies in the public and private sectors, as well as positions in research and educational institutions.
In previous decades, the main area of employment for its graduates was in services and technical companies in the broader public sector (Civil Aviation Authority, Public Power Corporation, Hellenic Telecommunications Organization, secondary education). Subsequently (over the last twenty years), its graduates have been employed mainly (if not exclusively) in technological positions in the private sector, both in Greece and abroad.
